Details of the event programs have been finalized
August 5 (Fri.) to 7 (Sun.) / Tokyo International Forum / Admission free
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will hold “Monozukuri – A Celebration of Japanese Artisanal Techniques 2022” to showcase the attraction of traditional craftsmanship, manufacturing skills and techniques after a three-year hiatus. We are pleased to announce the details of the event.

Brilliant stages by artisans
At the opening of the event on the first day (August 5), works by artisans of chair upholstery and fixtures will be displayed to celebrate the opening of the event. Yamanouchi Suzu, event supporter, will appear in this opening event. Later she will also appear in a special stage program peeling vegetables to decorate Japanese dishes under the guidance of a skilled cook. Visitors can enjoy performances by artisans in diverse stage programs. Comedians of the Yoshimoto Kogyo entertainment group will appear with artisans on stage to further liven up the event.
The stage shows will be streamed online. Gifts will be given to viewers.

Programs to experience artisanal techniques of different kinds
Visitors can enjoy over 70 programs to experience artisanal techniques at booths, including woodworking, Japanese omelet cooking, and seal making. Children can make use of these experience-type programs for their independent study during the summer holiday.
Programs for young people
Young visitors can participate in workshops including flower arrangement to make a bouquet of flowers under the guidance of a flower decoration master and popular Kendama (cup and ball skill toy) making. Talk shows with young artisans in different fields will also be held.
Exhibition with a specific theme
A tea ceremony room will be displayed to showcase artisanal techniques of Japanese traditional architecture.

Exhibition of students’ works
Works made by students of vocational training schools who want to become artisans in the future will be displayed.
