‘Experts’ Consultation Meeting for Promoting Agriculture in Tokyo’ for FY2025 Held
On July 31 (Thur), 2025, Governor Koike attended the “experts’ consultation meeting for promoting agriculture in Tokyo” (the first session) for the fiscal year 2025.
The governor pointed out, “Yesterday, Hyogo recorded 41.2 degrees Celsius, posing a serious problem for both people and agriculture. The situation surrounding Tokyo’s agriculture is severe, with such issues as shortages of farmers, securing successors, and the resulting decline in farmland.”
She went on to say, “How do we protect agriculture that enriches Tokyoites’ tables, and farmland that conserves the environment and assumes multifaceted functions—the very heart of food security? How do we fill Tokyoites' stomachs? We must now boldly update Tokyo’s agriculture by attracting startups and introducing agri-tech utilizing cutting-edge technologies like AI and robotics.”
“Today, we will receive opinions from experts in various fields from multifaceted perspectives, thus moving forward with concrete, swift action to promote Tokyo’s agriculture,” she said, expressing her hope.
