Speech by the Governor of Tokyo, Koike Yuriko, at the Third Extraordinary Session of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, 2020
In opening the third extraordinary session of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, may I have the honor of saying a few words about the Rikkoshi-no-rei, the Ceremony for Proclamation of Crown Prince, which will take place on November 8th. The Ceremony is a ritual that publicly proclaims that His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino is Crown Prince. It is a truly auspicious occasion for us, the people of Tokyo, as well.
As the governor of Japan’s capital Tokyo, I extend my most heartfelt congratulations together with the people of Tokyo to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, and Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince and Crown Princess Akishino. At the ceremony, I plan to offer a congratulatory message.
With this, I would like to conclude my remarks.
