Governor Koike Attends the Commendation Ceremony for the ‘Tokyo Eco Builders Award’ for FY2025

On November 27, Governor Koike attended a ceremony to confer the ‘Tokyo Eco Builders Award’ for FY2025, commendations given to those housing developers taking environment-conscious approaches to new buildings they construct.

The governor said, “To realize ‘Zero Emission Tokyo,’ the Tokyo Metropolitan Government launched in April the ‘Buildings’ Environmental Performance Reporting System,’ making it mandatory for housing suppliers and developers to construct new residential buildings with solar panels installed and their insulating and energy-saving performance ensured. The system’s effectiveness will be enhanced by those suppliers and developers who not only meet the standards but also implement their initiatives at higher levels with their ingenuity.”

She went on to say, “Applications for the award have increased every time they are called for. This time, many local housing suppliers have applied. ‘Energy-efficient homes,’ equipped with solar panels and assured of high insulation and energy-saving performance, can use electricity economically and even at the time of a power outage, ensuring people the sense of safety and security.”

In closing her address, she said, “The TMG will widely disseminate pioneering initiatives taken by you and those of the housing industry to further promote ‘energy-efficient homes.’ Let’s join forces to create a sustainable society!”
