Governor Attends the Council for Promoting Liaison between Metropolitan High School of Technology and Bus Services Associations (1st session)

On April 3, Governor Koike attended the first session of the “council for promoting liaison between Tokyo Metropolitan High School of Technology and bus services associations.”

The governor said, “As Tokyo is also expected to become a society with a highly aged population, maintaining local public transportation has become an unavoidable issue that is directly linked to the daily living of Tokyo citizens. This fiscal year, the Metropolitan Government has included a new budget to secure personnel for sustainable bus services, while we are poised to make a full-scale, government-wide effort to take various measures, ranging from the recruitment of new bus drivers to their staying in the job.

“We intend to cooperate with the associations of bus services operators to produce more capable personnel, and to hold broad discussions on enhancing the appeal of the bus services industry that supports the local transportation system, expanding the education offered at metropolitan high schools and high schools of technology, developing and improving vocational skills, and creating a work environment more friendly to young people and women. To realize a city that harmonizes growth and maturity, we’d like to work together with you to powerfully advance the securing of the workforce that supports Tokyo, the capital of Japan,” she said.
