Governor Koike Attends Tokyo Silver 50th Anniversary Festival

On October 23, Governor Koike attended the “Tokyo Silver 50th Anniversary Festival” held at Tokyo Dome City in Bunkyo Ward.

Governor Koike said, “The Silver Human Resources Center, which originated in Tokyo, was born in 1975. I am very pleased that the center has reached a milestone of celebrating its 50th anniversary. As the arrival of a full-fledged super-aged society is anticipated and we are in the midst of it, expectations for the employment centers for elderly people to contribute to building vibrant local communities with the use of their ample knowledge and experiences will only grow stronger from now on.”

She went on to say, “We are entering an era of 100-year lifespans. We must create an ‘active Chōju society (a society of longevity)’ where people live long lives animatedly and healthily while the potential of everyone is fully utilized. Shaping major trends in society is a role the metropolitan government is supposed to assume, and it is precisely what we are good at doing.”

In concluding her address, she emphasized, “Looking toward the next 50 years of the Silver Human Resources Center, the metropolitan government will firmly support your efforts so that you can fully exert your capabilities.”
