Message from Governor Koike on the Novel Coronavirus
Cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported worldwide, mainly in the People’s Republic of China.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has already established the Tokyo Novel Coronavirus Response Headquarters, and is devoting all of its efforts to preventing the spread of this infectious disease to ensure the safety and peace of mind of the people of Tokyo.
We would like to request that the people of Tokyo make a concerted effort to take basic precautions generally taken for infectious diseases, such as practicing cough etiquette (covering your mouth and nose with a tissue, etc.) and washing your hands, just as you would to prevent influenza.
If you have any questions regarding the novel coronavirus, including questions related to preventing the infection and what to do when concerning symptoms develop, you can consult with your local public health center or contact the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s dedicated call center at 03-5320-4509. (Please note that assistance is available in Japanese only.)
Information on prevention measures and other topics is provided on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government website.
This weekend, a telephone consultation center for returnees and those who may have had contact with an infected individual is scheduled to be set up at local public health centers to assist those with symptoms such as a cough and fever and refer them to a medical institution as necessary.
