Governor Koike’s comments
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay will culminate with flames harvested across Japan brought together and united into one flame in Tokyo. As the host city, Tokyo will bring the hopes of each and every citizen of Japan for the Paralympic Games and the passion and excitement of the Olympic Games to the Paralympic Opening Ceremony.
Tokyo is the first city to host the Paralympic Games a second time. To ensure the Games contribute to realization of an inclusive society, the torch relay route will include places where diverse groups of people come together to participate in various activies.
The success of the Tokyo 2020 Games will be determined by the success of the Paralympic Games. Working with many, including the people of Tokyo, we will build excitement for the Paralympic Torch Relay and lead the Tokyo 2020 Games to success.
