Global City Network for Sustainability(G-NETS)Leaders Summit
From Monday, February 27, through Wednesday, March 1, Governor Koike attended the Global City Network for Sustainability (G-NETS) Leaders Summit. In her remarks, the governor said, “With the participation of leaders from the world’s cities, we held sessions on three themes. The “environment,” for response to the climate emergency faced by humanity. Cities that are “inclusive and just,” which is crucial in building people-centered societies where everyone of all backgrounds understand and respect each other. And “safe and secure cities,” which are at the foundation of all urban activities. The issues recognized, initiatives taken, invaluable knowledge and other insights that were presented at the sessions have been reflected in the communique. The next G-NETS Leaders Summit is scheduled to be held in May 2024 in Tokyo’s Bay Area. I very much look forward to seeing everyone again and having a productive discussion for the creation of a sustainable society.”
G-NETS is a new international network launched by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) to serve as a forum for the world’s cities to engage in discussion and share their knowledge and expertise to find solutions to common urban challenges, with the ultimate aim to realize sustainable societies. The TMG is promoting the Sustainable High City Tech Tokyo (SusHi Tech Tokyo) concept with the aim to generate sustainable new values through the use of advanced technology. As the first phase of the “SusHi Tech Tokyo” project, the TMG hosted City-Tech.Tokyo and the Global City Network for Sustainability (G-NETS) Leaders Summit.
