A roundtable discussion with the Lord Mayor of the City of London
On Thursday, June 30, Governor Koike attended a roundtable discussion on finance with the Lord Mayor of the City of London.
The governor said, “Holding the key to overcoming the increasingly serious crises, and realizing a sustainable recovery, is finance. Finance has the power to find soutions to social problems. … Today, we discussed how Tokyo and the City of London will work together on sustainable finance amid this global energy crisis. Tokyo wishes to continue to co-host events related to finance with the City based on the memorandum of understanding we have concluded with the City and exchange views through opportunities such as today’s roundtable to fortify the bonds between Tokyo and the City.”
Based on the memorandum of understanding on exchanges and collaboration concluded with the City of London Corporation in December 2017, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is cooperating with the City of London in areas including financial education programs and financial sector events for green finance and other initiatives held in Tokyo and the City.
