Governor Koike Meets with the President of World Athletics
On Thursday, October 8, Governor Koike met with World Athletics President Mr. Sebastian Coe at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
The Governor expressed her respect for Mr. Coe’s contributions as chair of the London 2012 Games Organising Committee, saying, “We have been able to learn a great deal from the various successes of the London Games.” She also went on to add, “Now, there is the global challenge of overcoming COVID-19. Although we are facing a major test, I hope to hold the Tokyo 2020 Games as proof that we have overcome the pandemic, and make them a success.“
