Governor Meets with the Lord Mayor of the City of London Online
On Friday, September 11, Governor Koike took part in an online meeting with Mr. William Russell, the 692nd Lord Mayor of the City of London, to discuss Tokyo’s ongoing initiatives to realize its Global Financial City: Tokyo vision. Other topics discussed included COVID-19 response and measures for a post-covid world in both cities.
Following the meeting, Governor Koike commented, “In the COVID-19 era, what we must consider is implementing sustainable policies. The U.K. is playing a leading role in this area.” With regard to finance, the governor said, “Many people say that it is no surprise that London solidly maintains its position as one of the world’s top financial hubs. There is a lot that Tokyo can learn from London.”
