STARTUP TOKYO SEMINAR 2018
On Monday, May 28, Governor Koike attended the Startup Tokyo Seminar 2018, which was held in an office space in Tokyo.
The purpose of the seminar was to encourage Japanese and foreign people to establish business in Tokyo. During the seminar, participants heard explanations on the attractiveness of doing business in Tokyo and support provided by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) to entrepreneurs, as well as experiences of entrepreneurs who actually set up business in Tokyo.
The governor opened the seminar with her speech on “The Appeal of Doing Business in Tokyo.” She said, “The TMG has utilized the National Strategic Special Zone system to build an attractive business environment for domestic and foreign companies. However, the TMG’s initiatives in this area are still lagging behind other developed countries. … As international competition is becoming even more intense, we want to bolster our efforts to support startups.”
She went on to say that “the TMG will assist you in launching your business. We hope that you all do fabulous work in Tokyo.”
