Startup Ecosystem Summit 2025

On November 25, Governor Koike attended “Startup Ecosystem Summit 2025” held at Tokyo Innovation Base in Chiyoda Ward.

Governor Koike pointed out, “Startups are those entities creating something from scratch. TIB, where various startups and ecosystem stakeholders gather, serves as a ‘node’ for international innovation and is utilized daily by diverse individuals, bringing on more than 310,000 visitors to date. Three years ago, we formulated our startup strategy, ‘Global Innovation with STARTUPS.’ Through our two platforms, TIB and SusHi Tech Tokyo—now one of Asia’s largest innovation conferences—numerous startups and ecosystem players have gathered, expanding the circle of activity.”

She went on to say, “To accelerate this momentum, we will upgrade our strategy to ‘Global Innovation Strategy 2.0 STARTUP & SCALEUP.’ The keywords are ‘global’ and ‘scaleup,’ aiming for leaps and growth on a global scale. We aim to create innovations holistically, involving not only startups but also large corporations and SMEs.”

In closing her address, she said with emphasis, “TIB has evolved into a place where all challengers are given support and where diverse challengers, not only startups but also large corporations, SMEs, researchers, women, young people, and even children gather, creating new value. It’s not just TIB, but there are many other ecosystems in various places in Tokyo. We will make use of the unique characteristics of universities, research institutions, and the Tama and island regions. And we will make the whole of Tokyo evolve into an innovation field.”
