The Jindai Botanical Garden in Chofu City celebrated its 60th anniversary. The Garden was originally a nursery for trees and other plants to line the streets of Tokyo. After the war, the Garden was opened to the public as Jindai Green Zone, and was renamed Jindai Botanical Garden and opened as the only botanical park in Tokyo in 1961.

There are currently about 100,000 trees of 4,800 species planted there. The Garden is divided into 30 blocks of different types of gardens, including a rose garden, azalea garden, plum garden, and a Japanese bush clover garden. The roses bloom twice a year, with over 5,200 spring roses of 409 varieties, and over 5,000 fall roses of about 300 varieties.

The large greenhouse reopened in May 2016 is where visitors can see rare tropical plants and colorful flowers.

The dahlia garden has cute round flowers that look like pompoms		The giant plant in the plaza center that resembles Japanese silver grass is pampas grass from South America. It can grow to a height of 2 to 3 meters.
